Chapter 01 — North edge of town, off Second Street, Lindsborg, KS

Lindsborg, Kansas

Every long life deserves good last chapters.

Cottages, apartments and every level of care on twenty quiet acres at the north edge of Little Sweden, U.S.A.

Since 1979

Begun by neighbors, for neighbors.

In 1979 four Lindsborg churches pooled their savings to build twelve cottages, so the town's grandparents wouldn't have to move to Salina when they needed more help. Those cottages are still here. So are a lot of the families who built them.

Today Linden Prairie is independent living, assisted living, memory care and a skilled nursing center, all connected by a long glassed-in walkway residents call Main Street. The coffee is always on, the cardamom bread comes out of the oven on Fridays, and the Dala horse on the front porch gets repainted every spring.

Sample family reviews

As the families tell it

Mom moved into a cottage at 80 and into the Garden Wing at 88. She never once had to learn a new set of faces, and neither did we.
Karin J.Daughter of a resident
I taught half the nurses here in third grade. Now they take my blood pressure and tease me about my handwriting. It's a good arrangement.
Evelyn S.Resident since 2016
Dad's rehab after his hip was right down the hall from his apartment. Mom brought him lunch every day. He was home in three weeks.
Peter A.Son of residents
We were in Denver and worried sick. Ingrid's team called after every care meeting and sent a photo of Dad at the woodshop bench. That's how we knew he was all right.

Good to know

Questions, answered

What is a life plan community?

A campus with independent living plus higher levels of care, so residents can stay as their needs change. Contracts differ; ours include an entrance-fee plan and a monthly-rental plan.

Does Medicare pay for assisted living?

No. Medicare does not cover assisted living or long-term custodial care. It can cover short-term skilled nursing and rehab after a qualifying hospital stay.

Do you accept Medicaid?

Yes, in our skilled nursing center. Our business office can walk you through Kansas Medicaid eligibility and the application.

Can I bring my own furniture?

Please do. Cottages and apartments come unfurnished so they feel like yours from the first night.
