Hospice care · Emporia & the Flint Hills

Under a wide sky, nobody has to do this alone.

Hospice nurses, aides, a chaplain and a social worker who drive the county roads to you, from Strong City to Hartford, so the last season can be spent at home.

Who we are

A small team that knows the roads and the people on them.

We are fourteen people in an office on Commercial Street. Most of us grew up within forty miles of it. When we come to your house, we already know where the cattle guard is and which gravel road washes out in a spring rain.

Hospice is not about giving up. It is about comfort, honesty and good days: pain under control, breath that comes easier, and a family that knows what to expect and who to call.

Sample family reviews

From families in the Flint Hills

Dad wanted to see the pasture burns one more spring. Our nurse timed his visits around it, and we drove him out on the ridge road at dusk to watch the fire lines. He talked about it for days.

I called at two in the morning, sure I was doing everything wrong. The nurse talked me through it, then said she'd be there in forty minutes. She was there in thirty-five.
Doug R.Husband of a patient, Madison
Their chaplain came to Mom's room every Thursday and sang the old Swedish hymns with her. I didn't know anybody still knew them.
