Why small towns

Recovering near home is part of recovering.

In the Flint Hills, the nearest big hospital can be an hour away, and a lot of families have been told the only good rehab or nursing home is in Wichita or Topeka. That means a wife who can't visit every day, a church that can't bring supper, a dog who never gets to come by. People recover slower when they're lonely.

So we built and bought small-town centers and gave every one of them the same standard: licensed nurses on every hall, a real therapy gym, a nurse practitioner who rotates between buildings and one admissions line that answers seven days a week. Your mother gets city-quality care, and your neighbors still bring the pie.

We believe people heal faster near the people who love them. So we keep good nursing and real therapy in small towns, where the neighbors still bring pie and the dog can still come visit.
