Good to know
Questions, answered
Does Medicare cover rehab at Flint Ridge?
Original Medicare Part A can cover up to 100 days of skilled nursing and rehab after a qualifying three-day inpatient hospital stay. Days 1–20 are fully covered; days 21–100 have a daily coinsurance. Medicare Advantage plans set their own rules, and we check yours before admission.
Do you accept KanCare?
Yes, at all four centers. KanCare (Kansas Medicaid) covers long-term nursing care for residents who qualify. Our social services team helps with the application.
Which center should we choose?
Usually the one closest to the family who visits most. All four share the same standards and leadership.
Can my father move between centers?
Yes, when a bed is available, without starting over on paperwork.
Is therapy the same in small towns?
Yes. Every center has a therapy gym and therapy six days a week.
What if my mother needs a specialist?
Many specialty visits happen by telehealth. When an in-person visit is needed, our vans run to Wichita and Emporia.
Can I tour before surgery?
Please do, and we'll reserve a suite for your discharge date.
What should I bring for rehab?
Comfortable clothes, sturdy shoes, glasses, hearing aids and your phone charger. We do laundry.
What are visiting hours?
Any time, at every center.
Can our dog visit?
Yes, leashed and vaccinated, in common areas.
Can I keep my own doctor?
Yes, if your doctor can visit or coordinate with us.
Do you have memory support?
Quieter halls with dementia-trained aides in El Dorado and Augusta.
Do you do IV therapy and wound care?
Yes, at all four centers.
How do you keep families informed?
Care conferences at admission and quarterly, plus a call whenever anything changes.
Do you take VA benefits?
Some veterans qualify for VA-paid nursing home care through community care contracts. Our social services team can help you check.
Can we bring furniture?
Long-term residents may bring a chair, a dresser, photos and bedding.
What about hospice?
Residents can receive hospice in their own rooms through local hospice partners.
Is there a waiting list?
Rehab beds are usually available within a day or two somewhere in our four towns.
Are meals flexible?
A choice at every meal and an always-available menu.
