Good to know
Questions, answered
Is it safe for people with dementia to work in a garden?
Yes, with the right setup. Our beds are raised, the paths are level, tools are blunt and every garden hour is staffed. Residents choose how much they want to do, and plenty just sit in the shade and supervise.
How is memory care paid for?
Most families pay privately or with long-term care insurance. Medicare covers doctor visits and therapy but not room and board. Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA pension benefits, and some Oklahomans qualify for the state's Medicaid ADvantage waiver for assisted living services. Our business office can walk you through it.
Is Goldfinch House secure?
Doors are coded and alarmed, and the garden and pecan grove are fully fenced, so residents can be outdoors on their own without wandering into danger.
What happens in bad weather?
The garden moves indoors: seed sorting, potting, canning, birdhouse building in the workshop. And there's always a porch.
Can my mother stay if her needs increase?
In most cases, yes. We update the care plan as needs change and coordinate hospice when the time comes. If someone needs skilled nursing care we can't safely provide, we'll help your family find the right place.
When can we visit?
Any time. Come for dinner at noon, help in the garden or sit on the porch in the evening. Grandkids are always welcome.
