Good to know

Questions, answered

When should we call hospice?

When a doctor expects the illness to run its course in about six months or less, or when treatment isn't helping anymore. You can call just to ask questions.

Does Medicare pay for hospice?

Yes. The Medicare hospice benefit covers the care team, medicines, supplies and equipment related to the hospice diagnosis, usually with nothing owed by the family.

Can he still see his own doctor?

Yes. Your doctor can stay involved and work with our medical director on the plan of care.

Do you come out to ranches past Hunt and Bandera?

Yes. Our nurses drive the river roads every day. Give us directions and we'll be there.

What if we change our minds?

Hospice is a choice you can change at any time. Patients can stop hospice and return to treatment, and come back later if they want.

The next chapter can still be good.

Call with your questions. A hospice nurse will answer, and nothing is decided until you say so.
