Chapter one

The plan for going home starts on day one.

Before your first therapy session, someone sits down with you and asks about home. How many steps to the porch. Whether the bathroom has a tub or a walk-in shower. Who will be there in the evenings. Those answers become your goals.

Most people stay with us two to four weeks. Our therapists, nurses and case manager meet every week to measure progress against those goals, and you and your family are in the room for it.
