Questions, answered

What is a Kansas home plus?

A home plus is a type of adult care home licensed by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services. It serves no more than twelve residents in a home-like setting and provides personal care, supervision and help with medications. It is not a nursing home, so it does not provide round-the-clock skilled nursing.

How do families pay for a home plus?

Most residents pay privately, sometimes with long-term care insurance. Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA Aid and Attendance. Some Kansans qualify for help through KanCare home and community based services. Our office will walk you through what may apply.

Can residents keep their own doctors?

Yes. We drive residents to their own doctors in Abilene and Salina and share notes with every provider.

What should we bring on move-in day?

Favorite furniture, bedding, photographs, clothing labeled with a name, glasses, hearing aids and any current medications in their original bottles. We will send a full checklist.

What if care needs increase?

Many residents stay with us through the end of life with a hospice team visiting. If someone needs more nursing than a home plus can provide, we help the family plan the next step calmly.
