Good to know

Things families ask first

What is an adult day club?

A daytime place for grown-ups who need a little help and a lot of company. Members come for the hours you choose and go home every afternoon.

Who is a good fit?

Adults living with memory loss, recovering from a stroke or fall, managing diabetes or Parkinson's, or lonely at home. Gloria visits your home before the first day.

Why so much music?

Because it works. Familiar music can calm, engage and connect people living with dementia, and everyone else just likes it.

How do families pay?

Privately by the day, or through VA benefits, long-term care insurance and Kansas Medicaid waiver programs for those who qualify. Medicare generally does not cover adult day. We'll help you check.

Is a nurse there all day?

Yes, every hour we're open.

What towns does the van cover?

Chanute, Erie, Thayer, Galesburg, St. Paul and the farms between. Ask about others.

My dad doesn't dance. Will he like it?

Plenty of our members never dance. They play dominoes, garden, paint, read the paper and argue about the Royals. The music is just there.

What about members with dementia?

They spend part of the day in our quieter studio with staff trained in dementia care and join everyone for lunch and music.

Can Mom come only two days?

Yes. Two days is our minimum so she gets to know her table. Most families choose three.

Can families come to the dance socials?

Please do. The last Friday of every month, 1 to 3 p.m. Grandkids welcome.

Do you have respite on weekends?

Yes, on the second Saturday of the month.

What happens in an emergency?

Our nurse responds right away. We call 911 first if needed, then you.

Can Mom shower at the club?

Yes, in our shower room with a trained aide.

Is the old dance hall accessible?

Yes. Ramp entrance, level floors, wide doors and accessible restrooms.

Do you close for weather?

We follow the Chanute schools and call every family by 6:30 a.m. if we close.

What does my dad need to bring?

A list of medicines, noon doses in the pharmacy bottle, his glasses and a sweater. Dancing shoes optional.

Can we try it first?

Yes. The first day is free, lunch and the van included.

Last Friday of the month. Wear your dancing shoes.

Come to a dance social, or bring your parent for a free day with lunch and the van. Call, text or book online.
