Questions, answered

What is a residential care home in Texas?

Texas licenses homes like ours as assisted living facilities. We help with daily living, like bathing, dressing, meals and medications, with staff awake around the clock. We are not a nursing home and do not provide round-the-clock skilled nursing.

How do families pay?

Most residents pay privately or with long-term care insurance. Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA Aid and Attendance. Some Texans qualify for help through Medicaid waiver programs. Ask our office and we will walk you through what may apply.

Can residents stay through the end of life?

Yes, in most cases. With a hospice team visiting, many of our residents spend their last days here, in their own suite, with family welcome around the clock.

Are the suites furnished?

They can be either way. Most residents bring a favorite chair, bedding and pictures. We provide furniture for anyone who would like it.

Can my mother keep her own doctor?

Yes. We drive residents to their own doctors and share notes with every provider. A visiting physician also sees residents here monthly for anyone who prefers it.

What if care needs grow beyond what you provide?

If someone needs more nursing than we can safely provide, Margaret helps the family plan the next step and stays involved through the move.

Come for tea in the rose garden.

Margaret gives every tour herself, usually with a pot of tea on the porch afterward. Choose a time or call.
