Why a house

Dementia gets easier when the world gets smaller.

I spent eleven years as a hospice nurse in Pottawatomie County, and I kept meeting families whose mom or dad had been moved into a big building with long halls and a loud dining room. Many of them were frightened all day. So in 2017 I opened Linwood: sixteen private rooms around one kitchen and one living room, with a fenced yard you can see from every chair.

We don't wake anyone for breakfast. We learn whether your mother is a six o'clock person or a nine o'clock person, and the coffee is ready either way. Most of what we do is small like that, and most of it is learned by listening.
