Why speed matters

The first 48 hours home are where things go wrong.

A new blood thinner nobody explained. A walker that doesn't fit through the bathroom door. A dressing that was supposed to be changed yesterday. Jasmine Ortega-Hale saw it for ten years as a hospital case manager in Rogers, and she started Little Sugar with one rule: no patient waits three days for a first visit.

Northwest Arkansas grew fast and so did we, but the rule held. Our intake team works seven days a week, our nurses carry tablets that sync with most local hospitals, and the first visit is usually the next day.
