For the family

Caring for someone you love is the hardest, holiest work. Here's how we help.

  1. 01

    A nurse any hour

Day or night, a nurse answers and comes out if needed.

  2. 02

    Someone to sit up

Night sitters so you can sleep.

  3. 03

    Feeling like herself

Hair, nails and a little lipstick from our volunteer stylists.

  4. 04

    Keepsakes

    Handprints, recordings, recipes and portraits.

  5. 05

    Ready for the end

Our nurses gently explain the changes near the end, ahead of time.

  6. 06

    After the loss

Thirteen months of grief support for the whole family.

Good to know

What families ask

When should we call hospice?

When a doctor expects the illness to run its course in about six months or less, or when treatment is no longer helping. A call commits you to nothing.

Does Medicare pay for hospice?

Yes. The Medicare hospice benefit covers the care team, medicines, equipment and supplies for the hospice diagnosis, usually with nothing owed.

Can Mama stay in her own home?

Yes. Most of our patients are cared for at home. We also care for patients in a family member's home, assisted living or a nursing home.

Can she keep her own doctor?

Yes. Her doctor can stay involved and work with our medical director.

What if we change our minds?

Hospice is always a choice. A patient can leave hospice and return to treatment at any time, and come back later if needed.

Do you help after a death?

Yes. Our grief program supports the whole family for thirteen months, with calls, letters, visits and a Thursday evening group.

Let us hold some of this with you.

Call or text with any question. A hospice nurse will answer, and nothing is decided until you're ready.
