Good to know

Questions, answered

Does my father have to be artistic?

Not at all. Most of our artists never painted before they came here. The studio is about the pleasure of making something, and plenty of residents simply enjoy sitting with the music and the color.

How is memory care paid for?

Most families pay privately or with long-term care insurance. Medicare covers doctor visits and therapy but not room and board. Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA pension benefits, and some Texans qualify for Medicaid STAR+PLUS waiver services. Our social worker will help you sort through it.

Is the building secure?

Doors are coded and alarmed, the courtyard is walled and every outing is staffed. Residents can move freely and safely.

Can we bring furniture and art from home?

Please do. A familiar chair, a quilt and family photographs help a room feel like home. We'll hang their own artwork too.

What happens when needs increase?

We update the care plan and coordinate hospice when it's time, so most residents never move again. If skilled nursing becomes necessary, we'll help you find the right place.

When can families visit?

Any time. Come to the first-Saturday opening, join family art night or just drop in for lunch.

Come to the next opening.

First Saturday of every month, ten to one: lemonade, cookies and a wall of new work. Or call Elena for a private tour any weekday.
