Rehabilitation & nursing · Enid, Oklahoma

Sixty years of getting Enid back on its feet.

Physical, occupational and speech therapy, licensed nursing around the clock and a staff that has cared for three generations of the same families.

A hometown institution

Your grandmother may have recovered here, too.

Pioneer Avenue opened in 1962 with forty beds and one therapist who drove in from Oklahoma City twice a week. Today our therapy gym runs six days a week, and most of our therapists grew up within twenty miles of the building.

We still do the things that built our name: we answer the phone by the second ring, we learn every patient's story, and we tell families the truth about progress, good weeks and slow ones.

— Gerald Ostrander, Administrator since 1998

What Enid families say

My dad came here after his hip surgery in 2023, and his own mother had her stroke rehab here in 1988. The therapist who walked him to the car on discharge day was the granddaughter of her nurse.
Lisa K.Daughter of a rehab patient
They told us straight when Mom had a slow week and called with good news when she climbed the training stairs. Three weeks later she was home in her own kitchen.
Marcus T.Son of a rehab patient, 2024
Grandpa farmed wheat south of Drummond for fifty years. His therapist set up a practice step the height of his pickup's running board, and he climbed into that truck on his own the day he went home.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Can I choose Pioneer Avenue for rehab after a hospital stay?

Yes. Under Medicare you have the right to choose your skilled nursing facility. Tell the hospital case manager, or call us and we'll coordinate the referral.

Does Medicare cover my stay?

Medicare Part A can cover up to 100 days of skilled nursing and therapy after a qualifying three-day inpatient hospital stay, with full coverage for the first 20 days. Our business office explains your exact coverage before you arrive.

How often is therapy?

Most rehab patients have therapy five or six days a week, based on the plan their therapists and physician set together.

What happens when rehab ends?

Most patients go home, with equipment and home health arranged before discharge. If more time is needed, long-term care is available in the same building, with the same staff.
