Two kinds of stay, one standard

Some come to recover. Some come to stay. Everyone gets our best.

About half the people who come through our doors are here for a few weeks: a new hip, a bad fall, a long hospital stay that left them weak. Our therapy team's whole job is getting them home, and we celebrate every discharge with the bell by the front desk.

The other half live here. For them we keep the same nurses on the same halls, plant tomatoes in the raised beds every May and take the van to the State Fair every September.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Does Medicare cover rehab here?

Original Medicare Part A can cover up to 100 days of skilled nursing and rehab after a qualifying three-day hospital stay, with the first 20 days fully covered. Medicare Advantage plans set their own rules, and we check yours before admission.

Do you accept KanCare?

Yes. KanCare, Kansas's Medicaid program, covers long-term nursing care for residents who qualify. Our business office helps families with the application.

Can I tour before my surgery?

Please do. Many joint-replacement patients tour two or three weeks ahead and reserve a room for their expected discharge date.

What should I bring for a rehab stay?

Comfortable clothes you can exercise in, sturdy shoes with backs, glasses, hearing aids and your phone charger. We do the laundry.

When can families visit?

Any time. Evenings and weekends are busy and cheerful, and you are welcome to join a meal.
