Good to know

Questions, answered

When is it time for hospice?

When a doctor expects the illness to run its course in about six months or less, or when treatments are no longer helping. You can call us earlier just to ask questions.

Does Medicare pay for hospice?

Yes. The Medicare hospice benefit covers the team, medicines, supplies and equipment for the hospice diagnosis, usually with nothing owed. KanCare and most private plans cover hospice too.

Can she stay at the farm?

Yes. We serve six counties and drive the gravel roads every day. Most of our patients are cared for in their own homes.

What if he improves?

Some patients do. A person can leave hospice at any time and return to regular treatment, then come back later if needed.

Do you only serve people with cancer?

No. We care for people with heart and lung disease, dementia, kidney failure, ALS and other serious illnesses.

Call us before the next hard night.

A question is not a commitment. A hospice nurse will talk it through with you.
