Good to know

Questions, answered

What's the difference between your independent and assisted living?

In independent living you live on your own, with meals, housekeeping and maintenance included. Assisted living adds personal care such as help with bathing, dressing and medications. Our nurse does an assessment so you only pay for the help you need.

Does Medicare pay for assisted living?

No. Medicare does not cover room, board or personal care in assisted living. It still covers doctor visits, hospital stays and home health services if you qualify.

What about Medicaid?

In Kansas, the KanCare Frail Elderly waiver may help pay for care services in assisted living for people who qualify medically and financially; it does not pay room and board. Ask Rosa whether we have a KanCare apartment open and she'll walk you through it.

Can veterans get help paying?

Some can. The VA pension with Aid and Attendance may help wartime veterans and surviving spouses who need help with daily activities. Rosa can point you to the county veterans service officer to apply.

If my needs change, do I have to move out?

Usually not. Most residents move from independent to assisted living just down the hall. If someone needs skilled nursing care, we help the family find the right place and stay in touch.

Can I bring my dog?

Small dogs and cats are welcome in independent living, with a one-time pet deposit. Ask us about the walking path behind the cottages.

There's always a chair at the long table.
