Good to know
Questions, answered
Does Medicare cover rehab at Whittington?
Original Medicare Part A can cover up to 100 days of skilled nursing and rehab after a qualifying three-day inpatient hospital stay. Days 1–20 are fully covered; days 21–100 have a daily coinsurance. Medicare Advantage plans set their own rules, and we check yours before admission.
Do you accept SoonerCare?
Yes. SoonerCare (Oklahoma Medicaid) covers long-term nursing care for residents who qualify. Our social services team helps with the application.
Can I tour before surgery?
Please do. Many joint-replacement patients tour two or three weeks ahead and reserve a suite.
How much therapy will I get?
Most rehab patients have therapy five or six days a week, based on their plan and insurance.
What should I bring for rehab?
Comfortable clothes, sturdy shoes with backs, glasses, hearing aids and your phone charger. We do laundry.
What are visiting hours?
Families visit any time.
Can I keep my own doctor?
Yes, if your doctor can visit or coordinate with us. Otherwise our medical director and nurse practitioner follow your care.
Do you have a memory care hall?
A quieter hall with dementia-trained aides for long-term residents who need it.
Do you do IV therapy and wound care?
Yes, both, with a wound-certified nurse and an IV-trained team.
How do you keep families informed?
Care conferences at admission and every quarter, plus a call whenever anything changes.
Can residents join the events?
Every resident is welcome at every event, and we bring the party to rooms for anyone who can't come out.
Are meals flexible?
A choice at every meal and an always-available menu, planned around diets by our dietitian.
Do you take VA benefits?
Some veterans qualify for VA-paid nursing home care through community care contracts. Our social services team can help you check.
Is there a waiting list?
Rehab beds are usually available within a day or two. Long-term rooms sometimes have a short wait.
Can we bring furniture?
Long-term residents may bring a chair, a dresser, photos and bedding.
What about hospice?
Residents can receive hospice in their own rooms through our hospice partners.
Do you provide transportation?
Our van runs to appointments in Duncan and Lawton. Ask admissions about scheduling.
