Good to know

Questions, answered

Do residents really take classes with college students?

Yes. Through standing partnerships, students in music, dance, art and nursing programs lead sessions here every week during the school year. Every student completes our orientation and works alongside staff.

What is the difference between memory care and assisted living?

Memory care is designed for people living with Alzheimer's and other dementias: a secure building, staff trained in dementia, a calmer pace and days built around each person's abilities. Wisteria Hill serves only residents with memory loss.

How is memory care paid for?

Most families pay privately or with long-term care insurance. Medicare covers doctor visits and therapy but not room and board. Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA pension benefits that help. Our business office can walk you through options.

Can families join activities?

Please do. Families are welcome at any class, meal or Sunday hymn sing. Grandchildren are especially popular in the art studio.

What if needs change?

We update the care plan as needs change and coordinate hospice when the time comes, so most residents never need to move. If someone requires skilled nursing care we can't safely provide, we help the family find the right place.
