Good to know

Questions, answered

Can my spouse live with me if only I need memory care?

Yes. Our companion suites are designed for exactly that. The spouse who doesn't need memory care pays a companion rate and can come and go freely.

Is the waterfront safe?

The seawall and pier are fenced, railed and gated, and residents are always accompanied by staff on the water side. The gate closes at dusk.

What happens during a hurricane?

We have a written evacuation plan with an inland partner community, transportation under contract and a family call list. We review it every spring and call every family before storm season.

How is memory care paid for?

Most families pay privately or with long-term care insurance. Medicare covers doctor visits and therapy but not room and board. Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA pension benefits, and some Texans qualify for Medicaid STAR+PLUS waiver services. Our social worker can walk you through it.

Is there a separate charge for my spouse?

Yes, a companion rate that covers meals, housekeeping and the suite. Ask our admissions coordinator for current rates.

Can residents still go fishing?

Yes. Fishing mornings run weekly with a caregiver for every two anglers. We'll help families check whether a Texas fishing license or exemption applies.

Is the building secure?

Doors are coded and alarmed, and the courtyard and seawall are enclosed.

How do you handle sundowning?

Our evenings are built around the porch and the sunset: soft light, music, a rocker and a familiar hand. Most residents settle with routine rather than medication.

What happens when needs increase?

We update the care plan and coordinate hospice when the time comes, so most residents never have to move, and couples can stay together.

Can we bring furniture?

Please do. Favorite chairs, photographs and bedding make a room home from the first night.

What if the well spouse needs care later?

We'll reassess, and in many cases both spouses can stay in the suite with the right support.

Do you allow pets?

Small, calm, vaccinated pets can sometimes live in a companion suite. Ask us.

Can families visit in the evening?

Any time. Friday sunset is especially popular.

Do you offer short respite stays?

When a room is available, yes. It's a good way for couples to try the companion suites.

How will we stay informed?

Our nurse calls whenever anything changes, and you'll get a weekly letter with photos.

Come watch the sun go down with us.

Call or text Claire. She'll show you the suites, the seawall and the best chair on the porch.
