Good to know

Questions, answered

Who pays for home health?

Medicare covers home health in full for patients who are homebound and need part-time skilled nursing or therapy under a doctor's plan of care. Most Medicare Advantage plans, Texas Medicaid and many private plans cover it too. We verify coverage before the first visit.

Can I choose my home health agency?

Yes. Medicare gives you the right to choose any certified agency that serves your area. Tell your doctor or hospital case manager which one you want.

How soon can you come?

Usually within 24 to 48 hours of the referral, and often the day after you get home.

Do I have to be bedbound to qualify?

No. Homebound means leaving the house takes a considerable and taxing effort. You can still go to church, the barber or the doctor and qualify.

What areas do you cover?

Taylor, Jones, Callahan and Nolan counties, including Abilene, Clyde, Merkel, Baird, Anson, Hawley, Tuscola and Sweetwater.

Leaving the hospital soon? Ask for us by name.

You have the right to choose your home health agency. Tell the case manager you want Big Country, and we'll take it from there.
