How we work

Write the finish line first. Then train for it.

On day one, before anything else, a therapist sits down with you and your family and asks three questions: Where do you live? Who's there? What do you need to be able to do? Then we write the answers on the whiteboard in your room. Walk to the mailbox. Shower without help. Get in and out of the truck. That's the plan.

Every session after that is aimed at the board. Our gym has a full practice apartment, a set of real porch steps, a car frame and a gravel path out back, because Faulkner County homes don't come with smooth hospital floors. When the board is checked off, you go home.

Patients and families

My board said: climb four porch steps, carry a laundry basket, drive to church. Day sixteen I did all three. They took a picture of me next to the board.

Dad lost his leg below the knee. The team worked with his prosthetist every week, and he walked out on it. He's back at the deer camp this fall.
Jason P.Son of a rehab patient
I'm sixty-one and had a stroke at work. Speech therapy gave me my words back. PT gave me my legs. Nobody ever talked down to me.
Reggie H.Rehab patient, 2024
The weekly family meeting was the best part for us. We always knew the plan, the date and what we needed to buy before she came home.
Carol and Jim B.Daughter and son-in-law of a patient
They practiced getting me into my truck with a new hip. Sounds silly. It was the thing I was most scared of.
