  1. 01

    Visiting

Come any time. Sign in at the front desk, and pull up a chair at any meal. Grandkids are welcome at bingo, and they usually win.

  2. 02

    The nurse's line

Call the nurse's desk any hour and reach someone who saw your mother today. We call you first when something changes.

  3. 03

    Care conferences

Every 90 days, in person or by video, with the nurse, the lead caregiver and you. Bring your questions and your list.

  4. 04

    Photos and the newsletter

A monthly newsletter by email with the calendar, the menu and plenty of pictures. Ask Joanna to add every sibling.

  5. 05

    Labels, laundry and mail

Label clothing with a name and we handle the rest. Mail and packages are delivered to the apartment door every afternoon.

  6. 06

When you are out of town

Set up video calls through the front desk, and we'll make sure the tablet is charged and the volume turned up.

Insurance & payment

Paying for assisted living

Most families use a mix of savings, income and benefits. Gary in our business office walks every family through it before move-in, with the numbers on paper.

Private pay

A monthly rate for the apartment and daily life, plus a care level set by our nurse. No entrance fee, no long-term lease.

Long-term care insurance

Many policies cover assisted living. We help with the claim forms and the monthly paperwork insurers ask for.

VA Aid & Attendance

Eligible wartime veterans and surviving spouses may receive a monthly pension toward care. We help gather the paperwork.

Texas STAR+PLUS waiver

Texas Medicaid's STAR+PLUS waiver can help pay for assisted living services for those who qualify. Spots can be limited, so ask us early.

Good to know

Questions, answered

What does the monthly rate include?

Your apartment, three meals a day and snacks, utilities, Wi-Fi and cable, weekly housekeeping, laundry, transportation, activities and 24-hour caregivers. Personal care is priced by care level, set after a free nursing assessment, and listed in writing before you sign.

How is the care level decided?

Our nurse visits you at home or in the hospital, talks with you and your family, and reviews your medications and doctor's notes. The care plan sets what help you get and what it costs, and we review it every 90 days or whenever your needs change.

Is there a nurse on site?

A licensed nurse is on site seven days a week and on call every night. Caregivers and medication aides are awake and in the building around the clock.

Does Medicare pay for assisted living?

No. Medicare does not cover rent or personal care in assisted living. It does still cover doctor visits, therapy, lab work and prescriptions under your Part B and Part D or Advantage plan, the same as it would at home.

Does Texas Medicaid help with assisted living?

Texas Medicaid's STAR+PLUS waiver can help pay for assisted living services for people who qualify medically and financially, though rent and meals are usually still the resident's share. Waiver spots can be limited. Our business office will help you find out where you stand.

Can veterans get help paying?

Many wartime veterans and surviving spouses qualify for the VA Aid and Attendance pension, which can go toward assisted living. Gary in our business office helps families gather the paperwork.

Can I bring my own furniture?

Please do. Your bed, recliner, pictures and the quilt your mother made all make an apartment home. We'll send a floor plan so you can measure before moving day.

Can I keep my car?

Yes, if you are still driving safely. Resident parking is free. Plenty of residents sell the car after a few months because the van goes everywhere they need.

Are pets allowed?

Cats and small dogs are welcome in most apartments with a one-time pet deposit, as long as you can care for them. Visiting dogs on a leash are always welcome.

What about memory loss?

We serve many residents with mild memory changes. We do not have a secured memory care neighborhood, so if someone is at risk of wandering we will talk honestly with you about the right next step.

What happens if care needs increase?

Most changes are handled by updating the care plan. If someone needs more than assisted living can safely provide, like 24-hour skilled nursing, we help the family plan the move and stay in touch afterward.

Do you offer short stays?

Yes. Respite stays of a week to a month are available in a furnished apartment when one is open. They are a good way to try us out.

How do families stay in touch?

Call the nurse's desk any time. You will get a call from us whenever something changes, regular care conferences, and a monthly newsletter with the calendar and plenty of photos.

Can we join for meals?

Yes. Guest meals are a small charge. Let the front desk know by ten in the morning and we will set places.

Is there a hair salon?

Yes, a two-chair salon on the first floor, open Tuesday through Friday. Haircuts, sets and a barber chair for the gentlemen.

How do I schedule a tour?

Call or text, or use the tour button on this page. Tours run Monday through Saturday and Sunday afternoons and end with lunch or pie.

What should we bring on move-in day?

Clothing labeled with your name, two weeks of medications in their original bottles, a list of your doctors and the furniture you love. We send a full checklist and floor plan ahead of time.

How do I raise a concern?

Tell any staff member or ask for Darnell. Every concern is written down and followed up, and you will hear back from us. You also have the right to contact the Texas long-term care ombudsman.

Come see the place. Stay for the chicken-fried steak.

Call or text Darnell and pick a time. Fridays are a good bet.
