Ponca City, Oklahoma · since 1961
Cottages, apartments and every level of care on a quiet hill above Lake Ponca, in the town oil built and porches still keep.
Chapter one
Ponca City was built by people who thought big: the mansions on Grand Avenue, the Pioneer Woman on her pedestal, a refinery that ran for a hundred years. In 1961 a handful of refinery retirees and their wives decided the town deserved one more thing: a place where its people could grow old without leaving. They bought a hill above the lake and planted the first hundred redbuds.
Sixty-some years later, Eastmoor Hills has cottages and apartments, assisted living, memory care and a skilled nursing center, all connected by garden walks and covered breezeways. The redbuds still bloom in April. The Thursday supper club still meets. And the care is still local, with people who grew up a few miles away.

Sample family reviews
My father worked at the refinery forty-one years. He helped build this place. Now I live in the cottage he helped plan.
We came for the supper club and stayed for the people. Thursday nights are the best night of the week.
When Mom moved to Lakeview Cottage, Dad walked the garden path to see her every morning with the newspaper. He read it to her, front to back.
My knee rehab was in the Health Center, and my bridge foursome came over every afternoon. I didn't miss a hand.
I spent my career reading contracts for an oil company. Theirs was the clearest one I've read.
The nurses called us in Dallas after every change. We never felt far away.
I garden, I swim, I volunteer at the library downtown. Moving here was the best thing I did for my calendar.
Mother's last months were in the Health Center, with the chaplain stopping in every day and the staff singing her hymns. It was gentle, start to finish.
