Good to know

Questions, answered

Who can live at the Foundry?

Anyone 55 or older who can live independently. Many residents are still working part time. If you need help with daily activities, licensed home care agencies can serve you in your loft.

Is there an entrance fee?

No. The Foundry is a rental community. You sign a twelve-month lease and pay one monthly rent. A refundable deposit holds a loft.

Does Medicare pay for any of this?

No. Medicare doesn't cover rent or meals in independent living. It can cover doctor-ordered home health visits in your loft. Our business office can explain other options, like long-term care insurance or VA benefits, if you need care later.

Do I have to know how to use the tools?

Not at all. Every studio has an orientation, and the woodshop has a full-time steward. Plenty of residents never touch a saw and spend their evenings in the Pour Room.

Is it safe for older people? It's a factory.

It was a factory. Today it has elevators, sprinklers, level floors, grab bars, emergency pendants and a front desk that's staffed all night. The studios have guards, sawstop technology and supervised hours for the big machines.

Can I bring my own tools or kiln?

Hand tools and small equipment, yes; there's a locker and project shelf for every resident. Large machines stay in the shop. Talk to Samuel and he'll make room.

What about meals?

Supper is included every night, breakfast bar every morning, and Sunday brunch can include guests for a small fee. Every loft has a full kitchen too.

Can grandkids use the studios?

Yes, with you and during family studio hours on Saturday afternoons.

What if I need more care later?

We help you plan. Home health and private aides can come to your loft, and if you ever need assisted living, Dana and Gabriela help you find a good fit nearby.

Bring your tools. We'll clear a bench.

Call or text Theo, or book a tour online. Tours run until six; the studios stay open until ten.
