Nursing on the floor

Two licensed nurses on duty every hour we are open

• Medication administration and health checks

  Noon and afternoon medications, vitals, blood sugar and weight, with a written note home every day.

  Included

• Wound care, injections and nebulizer treatments

  Done here by our nurses, following your doctor's orders.

  As ordered

• Physical and occupational therapy

  Licensed therapists on site Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  By referral

• Memory care programming

  Smaller groups and a quieter room for members living with dementia.

• Help with toileting, grooming and showers

  Private shower room with a trained aide.

The day itself

• Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack

  Cooked in our kitchen. Diabetic, renal, soft and chopped diets followed.

• Garden club and raised beds

  Tomatoes, peppers and the herb box the cook raids every week.

• Morning exercise and balance class

• Music, choir and live piano

  A retired music teacher leads the Iris House singers on Wednesdays.

  The morning paper is read out loud at nine, then argued about.

  Door to door, morning and evening runs.

• Saturday respite days

  First and third Saturdays, so caregivers get a weekend morning too.
