Good to know

Before your first visit

What is adult day health?

A licensed daytime program with nursing care, meals, therapy and activities for adults who live at home but should not be alone during the day. Members go home every evening.

Who is a good fit for Iris House?

Adults living with dementia, recovering from a stroke or surgery, managing diabetes or heart failure, or simply too isolated at home. A nurse visits your home first to make sure we can meet your loved one's needs.

How do families pay?

By the day privately, or through VA benefits, long-term care insurance and Texas Medicaid programs for those who qualify. Medicare generally does not pay for adult day services. Our office will help you check.

Can my mother come only a few days a week?

Yes. We ask for at least two days so she gets to know the people at her table. Most families choose three to five.

What happens if she gets sick during the day?

Our nurses assess her right away and call you. In an emergency we call 911 first, then you.

Do you take members who use a wheelchair?

Yes. Every door is wide, every bathroom is accessible, and our van has a lift.

Can we visit before deciding?

Please do. Come for a tour, then come back for a free day with lunch included.

Come see the house at ten in the morning.

That's when it is fullest. Call, text or book a visit, and stay for lunch if you like.
