Registered nurse case manager
One nurse who knows your family and visits on a set schedule.
MedicareHospice · Manhattan, Kansas & the Flint Hills
Hospice nurses, aides, chaplains and social workers serving five counties of the Flint Hills, from farmhouses outside Wamego to military families at Fort Riley.
How we work
Every family is different. Some have a daughter who's a nurse and four siblings within ten minutes. Some have one spouse, eighty-four years old, doing it alone. Some are stationed at Fort Riley with family three states away. We start every admission by learning who's in your circle and what they can do.
Then we fill the gaps: nurse visits, aides for bathing, a chaplain if you want one, a social worker for the paperwork, volunteers to give the caregiver a break, and a nurse who answers at any hour.

My husband was deployed when his dad went on hospice. Sgt. Maj. Price helped us get the Red Cross message through, and he made it home in time.
Mom was eighty-four and caring for Dad alone. They figured out exactly what she couldn't do and filled every gap.
Kyle came out to our farm at 2 a.m. in a snowstorm. He knew our road better than the county plow.
The K-State students played Dad's favorite Sousa marches on a cello. He conducted from his bed.
Pastor Ingrid sat with Grandma every Tuesday and read the Psalms in Swedish, the way her mother had.
Dr. Lindgren drew us a picture on a napkin of what was happening in Mom's body. It was the first time we really understood.
Anna braided my wife's hair every visit and told her she was beautiful. My wife believed her.
Three veterans pinned my father in our living room. He served in Korea. He stood up for it.
My kids went to the grief camp at Tuttle Creek. They came home and talked about their grandpa for the first time in months.
Where we care
The same team and the same Medicare benefit, in any setting.

Most patients stay in their own bed. We bring the equipment, medicines and team.

Long gravel lanes are part of the job. Tell us the turn-off and we'll be there.

Many patients move in with a son or daughter. We care for them there and teach the whole household.

We add hospice nursing, aides, chaplain and social work to the care already in place.

We work alongside nursing home staff on comfort. Room and board is billed separately.

We believe people should spend their last season where they've spent their lives. We believe families are the real caregivers, and our job is to back them up. We believe honesty is a kindness. And we believe every soldier, farmer, teacher and grandmother deserves to be known, not just treated.
