Fort Sill to Mount Scott: sixty-two stories under one roof.

From the director's desk

A place for people who have been places.

Lawton is an Army town, and Meridian Hill has always reflected that. Our residents have been stationed in Germany, Korea and Fort Hood, taught at Cameron, ran the feed store on Cache Road and raised kids who now live in four time zones. They arrive with stories, and they want neighbors who'll trade them.

What they need from us is help with the parts of life that got harder: bathing, medicines, cooking, the long nights. We provide it quietly, on their schedule, with caregivers who stay. I retired from Fort Sill in 2014 and have run this community since 2016; my rule is that it should run as well as a good unit, and feel nothing like one.

Letters to the editor

Dad is a retired first sergeant and he does not hand out compliments. He told me the night shift here 'runs a tight ship.' That's the highest praise I've ever heard him give.

Helen spent three afternoons on Mom's Aid & Attendance paperwork. The pension now covers a real part of her rent.

We're stationed in Germany. Marcus sets up a video call every Sunday and makes sure Mom has her glasses on and her hair done.
SSgt. Laura V.Daughter of a resident
I came for the apartment and stayed for Friday coffee. Forty years since Vietnam and I finally found guys who want to talk about it.
Earl W.Resident since 2021
Gloria noticed Mom was confused one morning, checked for an infection and called the doctor before lunch. She was back to herself in two days.

The price on our first tour sheet is the price we pay. No surprises in three years.
