Questions, answered

Does Medicare cover rehab at Peony Hill?

Original Medicare Part A can cover up to 100 days of skilled nursing and rehab after a qualifying three-day inpatient hospital stay. Days 1–20 are fully covered; days 21–100 have a daily coinsurance. Medicare Advantage plans set their own rules, and we check yours before admission.

Do you accept Medicaid?

Yes, Texas Medicaid at both campuses. Our social services team also helps families who are moving a parent from the Arkansas side and need to understand how residency affects eligibility.

What is your night staffing like?

Licensed nurses on every hall, aides who know the residents, a nursing supervisor in the building and a physician on call.

Can families visit at night?

Any time. After nine, ring the bell and the night supervisor will let you in.

Can I tour before surgery?

Please do, and we'll reserve a suite for your discharge date.

How much therapy will I get?

Most rehab patients have therapy five or six days a week, based on their plan and insurance.

What should I bring for rehab?

Comfortable clothes, sturdy shoes, glasses, hearing aids and your phone charger. We do laundry.

Which campus is right for us?

Texarkana has our full rehab gym and the most beds; Nash is smaller and quieter, with long-term care and lighter rehab. Admissions will help you choose.

Do you have a memory support hall?

Yes, a quieter hall with dementia-trained aides at the Texarkana campus.

Do you do IV therapy and wound care?

Yes, both, on both campuses.

How do you keep families informed?

Care conferences at admission and quarterly, plus a call whenever anything changes, day or night.

Can I keep my own doctor?

Yes, if your doctor can visit or coordinate with us.

Are meals flexible?

A choice at every meal, an always-available menu and a night kitchen.

Do you take VA benefits?

Some veterans qualify for VA-paid nursing home care through community care contracts. Our social services team can help.

Can we bring furniture?

Long-term residents may bring a chair, a dresser, photos and bedding.

What about hospice?

Residents can receive hospice in their own rooms through our partners.

Can family stay overnight?

When someone is very sick, yes. We'll bring a recliner and a blanket.

Is there a waiting list?

Rehab beds are usually available within a day or two. Long-term rooms sometimes have a short wait.

How do I start?

Call admissions any day. We'll talk with the hospital or your doctor and verify insurance.

Come see what our nights look like.

Call admissions any day, or ask for Celeste by name. Evening tours until seven.
