Nursing & rehab · Texarkana, Texas
Peony Hill cares for 120 people on two campuses, in Texarkana and Nash: short-stay rehab, long-term nursing and the steady, unhurried kind of care that makes the long nights shorter.

After dark
The test of a nursing home is three in the morning. That's when a new rehab patient can't sleep after surgery, when a long-term resident wakes up confused, when a family gets the call they've been dreading. We built Peony Hill around those hours.
Our night shift is staffed like our day shift: licensed nurses on every hall, aides who know the residents, a supervisor in the building and a physician on call. The lamps stay low and warm. Call lights get answered. And when a family needs to come at midnight, someone meets them at the door. Daytime, we do what any good center does: therapy six days a week, wound and IV care, and a dining room with real tablecloths. But it's the nights families remember.

Sample family reviews
Two nights after my knee replacement I couldn't sleep. The nurse sat with me and we talked about my roses until I dozed off.
Dad gets confused at night. Luis knows exactly what to say. I sleep better knowing he's there.
When Mom took a turn at midnight, someone met us at the door and walked us straight to her room.
Three weeks after my stroke surgery I went home walking. The therapists never gave up on me.
Gloria calls me herself when anything changes. Not a voicemail.
Rosa healed a wound we'd fought for months at home.
Kiana sorted out Mom's Arkansas Medicaid when we'd moved her across State Line. Nobody else knew how.
The night kitchen made my husband a chocolate milkshake at two in the morning. He hadn't eaten all day.
Discharged on a Sunday night and Teresa still answered.
The halls are quiet at night. No beeping, no shouting. It feels like a home.
The Nash campus is smaller, and Martha knows every family. We chose it for that.
When Granddad passed, the chaplain was with him and stayed until we arrived.

We believe the measure of a nursing home is three in the morning: whether the call light gets answered, whether the lamp is on, whether someone knows your name. We staff our nights like our days, because that's when it counts.
