Our story

Jolene's mentor, a public-health nurse named Marlene Boese, started Boiling Springs Hospice with one station wagon and a car phone. She put four hundred miles on it the first week.

Boiling Springs State Park, just outside Woodward, has been where families gather for picnics, reunions and baptisms for a hundred years. Marlene wanted a name that felt like home to people here.

We stopped asking nurses to drive out from Woodward for everything. Now we have nurses living in Alva, Buffalo and Seiling, so help is closer when it matters.

After a family near Laverne waited an hour for medicine in the middle of the night, we started leaving an emergency comfort kit at every home. It's the simplest thing we do and families tell us it's the most important.
