Our story

When Crowley's Ridge opened, a retired schoolteacher recovering from a hip fracture brought her old classroom bell from home. She rang it on her way out the door, and a tradition started.

Our therapy director hung a whiteboard by the gym and started posting walking laps. Within a week guests were sneaking in extra laps after supper. The Friday dessert prize came a month later.

We renovated every rehab room into a private suite, because guests who sleep well work harder. It's still the best decision we ever made.

More than nine thousand guests have rung the bell. The original one wore out; the brass bell by the front door is the third.
