Our team

Executive Director
Celia joined Flint Hills as a caregiver while studying at the university in 1999 and has led all three homes since 2015. She still works a holiday shift every year.

Regional Director of Nursing
Karen spent eighteen years as a hospital nurse in Manhattan. She writes the care standards for all three homes and trains every new nurse herself.

Medical Director
Dr. Mensah leads the geriatric practice that visits each home twice a month and reviews every new resident's medications.

Home Director, Manhattan
Gerald retired from a career in university administration and found he missed knowing everybody. He has run the Manhattan home for twelve years.

Home Director, Junction City
Monique is an Army spouse who settled in Junction City after Fort Riley. She started our Wednesday veterans' coffee and knows the VA benefits system inside out.

Home Director, Council Grove
Dale grew up on a cattle operation in Morris County and has run the Council Grove home since it opened. He leads the spring prairie-burn drive himself.

Wellness Nurse, Manhattan
Grace does morning rounds, blood pressures and the flu clinic, and is the first to notice when someone is not quite themselves.

Therapy Director
Nia runs the therapy gym and the warm-water pool program. Her balance class has the longest waiting list in the building.

Culinary Director
Matt cooked in Kansas City restaurants before coming home to the Flint Hills. He buys beef from three local ranches and bakes bread every morning at five.

Life Enrichment Director
Hannah plans the prairie drives, the game-day parties and the quilting circle for all three homes. She has never met a pitch tournament she didn't want to organize.

Admissions Director
Tasha gives tours at all three homes and walks families through every number, every form and every option, including the ones that aren't us.

Chaplain
Pastor Lind served Lutheran congregations in Kansas for forty years. He leads chapel, visits anyone who asks and sits with families at the end.
Sample family reviews
Dad ranched south of Council Grove for sixty years. From his window he can see the same hills. He says it's the only reason he agreed to move, and I believe him.
Monique helped us get Dad's Aid and Attendance approved in four months. She knew which forms the VA would kick back before we sent them.
Mom taught first grade for thirty-four years. The memory care team gives her a reading circle every morning. She still corrects their grammar.
The therapy pool got me walking again after my knee. I'm back to the walking club and I lead the pace now.
Everything was on one sheet of paper before we signed. Two years in, the bill has never had a surprise on it.
I live in Seattle. Tasha sends me a photo every Friday. Last week it was Mom holding a tomato the size of a softball.
My husband is in memory care and I'm in assisted living, same building. I have lunch with him every day.
The bread. I don't know what else to say. The bread.
Karen called me at six in the morning because Dad seemed off. By noon he was on antibiotics, and he never went to the hospital.
They took Mom on the spring burn drive. She talked about the fire lines on the hills for a week.
Dad is a retired professor. They found him a seat at the lecture series and a ride every week. He feels like himself.
When Mom passed, Pastor Lind sat with us half the night. The caregivers came to the funeral. That is who these people are.

Call or text to schedule a tour at any of our three homes. The coffee is always on.
