Good to know

Questions, answered

What does the monthly rate include?

Your apartment, three meals a day and snacks, utilities, Wi-Fi and cable, weekly housekeeping and linens, laundry, transportation, activities and caregivers around the clock. Personal care is priced by level after a free nursing assessment, in writing, before you sign.

How is the care level set?

Our nurse meets you at home or in the hospital, reviews your medications and doctor's notes, and talks with you and your family. The plan sets what help you get and what it costs, and we review it every 90 days or whenever needs change.

Is there a nurse on site?

A licensed nurse is on site in each home on weekdays and on call nights and weekends. Caregivers and medication aides are awake in the building twenty-four hours a day.

What is memory care like here?

Each home has a secured neighborhood of fourteen to eighteen suites around its own courtyard, with dementia-trained caregivers, smaller groups and a calmer, more structured day.

Can couples with different needs stay together?

Yes. Couples can share an apartment with care priced for the spouse who needs it, or live in assisted living and memory care in the same home.

Does Medicare pay for assisted living?

No. Medicare does not pay for rent, meals or personal care in assisted living or memory care. It still covers doctor visits, therapy, lab work and prescriptions under Part B, Part D or an Advantage plan.

Does KanCare help pay?

KanCare, Kansas's Medicaid program, can help pay for assisted living services through the Frail Elderly waiver for people who qualify medically and financially. Room and board are generally the resident's share. Our business office will tell you which of our homes is accepting waiver residents.

Do you help veterans?

Yes. Many wartime veterans and surviving spouses qualify for the VA Aid and Attendance pension toward assisted living. Our Junction City director helps families from all three homes with the paperwork.

Do you accept long-term care insurance?

Yes. Most policies cover assisted living and memory care once benefit triggers are met, and we handle the monthly paperwork.

Which home is right for us?

All three offer the same care, rates and training. Manhattan is largest and has the therapy pool, Junction City is closest to Fort Riley, and Council Grove is the smallest and quietest. Most families choose the one closest to whoever visits most.

Can I bring my furniture?

Please do. We send a floor plan, and our maintenance team hangs pictures and sets up the TV before move-in day.

Are pets allowed?

Cats and small dogs are welcome in most assisted living apartments with a deposit, as long as the resident can care for them.

Can I keep my car?

Yes, if you are driving safely. Parking is free. Most residents find the van goes everywhere they need.

Do you offer short stays?

Yes, in a furnished apartment for a week or longer when one is open. Respite is a good way to try us out.

What if care needs grow beyond assisted living?

Many changes are handled by updating the care plan or moving to memory care. If someone needs round-the-clock skilled nursing, we help the family plan the next step.

How do families stay informed?

You get the nurse's direct line, care conferences every 90 days, a call whenever anything changes, and a monthly newsletter with photographs.

Can families join for meals?

Yes. Guest meals are a small charge, and Sunday supper is a family favorite.

How do I schedule a tour?

Call or text, or use the tour button. Tours run Monday through Saturday and Sunday afternoons at all three homes.

How do I raise a concern?

Talk with any staff member or ask for the home director. Every concern is written down and answered, and you may contact the Kansas long-term care ombudsman at any time.

Call or text to schedule a tour at any of our three homes. The coffee is always on.
