Physical therapy
Strength, walking, balance and stairs, measured every week.
Medicare Part AShort-term rehabilitation · Sapulpa, Bristow & Okmulgee
Polecat Creek runs three short-stay rehab campuses southwest of Tulsa. Every patient's strength, balance and walking are measured on day one and every week after, and the whole team works the numbers until you walk out the door.
How we work
On your first day a therapist times your walk, your sit-to-stand and your balance. Those numbers go on a board in your suite and in a weekly report to your family. Every week we test again, and every week we expect them to go up. When they hit the numbers you need for your own home, you go there.
Andre Whitfield, a physical therapist, opened the first Polecat Creek campus in Sapulpa in 2001 and added Bristow and Okmulgee as hospitals sent more patients our way. Today we run seven-day therapy, a cardiac and pulmonary program, a stroke unit and a return-to-work course, and we send most people home in about fifteen days.

Hope is good. Numbers are better. We measure how far you walk, how long you stand and how fast you climb, then we beat them every week.

Sample family reviews
Day one I walked 40 feet in two minutes. Day fourteen I walked 600. I have the printout on my fridge.
The weekly report let my brother in Houston see exactly how Mom was doing without calling five times a day.
After my amputation, Luis had me on a prosthetic in the gym in the first week.
Darius got Dad off oxygen before he went home. His pulmonologist couldn't believe it.
Megan worked with my husband's speech every day on the stroke unit. He told me he loved me on day nine.
Shannon coordinated my Indian Health Service and Medicare benefits. Nobody else had ever gotten that right.
The Okmulgee campus was ten minutes from home. Same therapy as Sapulpa.
They set a target date on day two and beat it by a day.
The 30-day follow-up call caught a medication problem before it sent me back to the hospital.
No-nonsense. Exactly what I needed.
Admissions had me approved and a bed ready before the hospital finished my discharge papers.
I still come back for outpatient therapy and they still test my numbers.
