How an old dairy hillside became the Landing.
Our story
For sixty years the Abernathy family milked cows on this hillside and fished off the same dock every Sunday afternoon. When they decided to sell, they turned down a marina developer and a subdivision. They wanted a place their friends could grow old.
The first residents moved into twelve lake cottages and ate their meals in the boathouse, which had a kitchen, a porch and not much else. A retired swim coach on the founding board insisted on a warm-water pool, and she was right.
The apartment buildings opened in 2012 and 2017, set into the slope so nearly every balcony faces the water. The pontoon boat started running that first summer, and residents with boats of their own got covered slips at the dock.
In 2019 we became licensed to provide assisted living services in residents' own apartments. People who need a hand with medications or bathing can keep their view and their neighbors.
