A licensed nurse on the floor every hour we are open

• Medication administration and daily health checks

  Vitals, blood sugar, weights and noon medicines, with a written note home each day.

• Physical and occupational therapy

  Licensed therapists on site three mornings a week.

  By referral

• Diabetes and heart-failure monitoring

  We watch the numbers and call your doctor's office when they drift.

• Help with toileting, grooming and showers

  Private shower room with a trained aide.

• Memory support groups

  Smaller tables and a quieter room for members living with dementia.

The day

• Breakfast, hot lunch and afternoon snack

  Diabetic, low-salt and soft diets followed. Shrimp po'boys on Fridays.

• Music, dancing and Friday sing-alongs

  Zydeco, conjunto, gospel and Glenn Miller, depending on who gets to the radio first.

• Dominoes, cards and bingo

• Chair exercise and the walking club

  The walking club does a lap of the block at ten, weather allowing.

• Outings to the seawall and the harbor

  Fishing from the pier, a ferry ride, or just watching the ships come in.

  Beads, king cake and a parade route around the dining room.

• Wheelchair-lift van, island-wide

  Door to door from the east end to Jamaica Beach.

  We know who needs what if the island evacuates, and we call every family before a storm.
