Good to know

Questions families ask

Who is Seawall a good fit for?

Adults who live at home with family but should not be alone all day: people living with dementia, recovering from a stroke or fall, managing diabetes, heart failure or Parkinson's, or simply too isolated. A nurse visits your home before the first day.

How do families pay?

Privately by the day, or through VA benefits, long-term care insurance and Texas Medicaid programs for those who qualify. Medicare generally does not cover adult day. Our office will help you check what applies.

What area does the van cover?

All of Galveston Island, from the east end to Jamaica Beach. Ask us about pickups on the Bolivar side.

What happens during hurricane season?

Every member has a written storm plan. We close when the city calls a mandatory evacuation, and we call every family before that happens. Our building is raised and has a generator.

Can my mother come only two or three days?

Yes. We ask for at least two days a week so she gets to know her table.

What if something happens during the day?

A nurse is on the floor every hour we are open. We call you right away, and we call 911 first in an emergency.

Do you help with bathing?

Yes. We have a private shower room and trained aides. Many families use it so bath day is one less job at home.

Can we try a day first?

Please do. The first day is free, with breakfast, lunch and the van included.

Come for breakfast. We'll send the van.

Your first day is free, breakfast and lunch included. Call or text and we'll pick a morning.
