Family resources

Moving a parent across state lines comes with a lot of questions. Here are the answers we give most.

For families

For families

Moving a parent across state lines is a project. Here's how we help.

  1. 01

    Planning the move

Renata connects you with movers and senior move managers in Tulsa, Joplin, Little Rock and beyond, and sends a floor plan with measurements.

  2. 02

    Care assessment

Our nurse does the assessment by video or in person before move-in, so the care plan is ready on day one.

  3. 03

    Staying in the loop

Choose texts, email or calls. Marcus or Nia will update you after any doctor visit or change in care.

  4. 04

    Visiting

Any time. The front door is open from six to ten, and families have a keypad code after that.

  5. 05

    Meals together

Join any meal. Saturday pancakes are free for grandkids under twelve.

  6. 06

    Care conferences

Every six months by video or in person, and whenever needs change.

Good to know

Questions, answered

What is assisted living?

Your own apartment, meals, housekeeping and an activity calendar, plus hands-on help with bathing, dressing, medications and getting around, from staff who are here 24 hours a day. It is not a nursing home and does not provide round-the-clock skilled nursing.

How much does it cost?

Rent depends on the apartment, and a care level is added after our nurse's assessment. Renata will give you a written estimate at your tour, with every fee listed.

Does Medicare pay for assisted living?

No. Medicare does not cover rent or personal care in assisted living, though it still covers your doctor visits, therapy, lab work and home health services you receive here.

Does Arkansas Medicaid help?

Arkansas Medicaid's Living Choices program can help pay for assisted living services for people who qualify, in communities that take part. Ask us about current availability.

What about veterans' benefits?

Wartime veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for the VA's Aid and Attendance pension. Hannah can connect you with a veterans service officer who helps with the application.

We're moving Mom from another state. Where do we start?

Call Renata. She'll do a video tour, connect you with movers and a senior move manager, and schedule our nurse's assessment by phone or video before move-in day.

Can she keep her doctors?

She can, though many residents switch to local physicians once they move. Our nurse practitioner sees residents here twice a month, and our van goes to appointments in Rogers, Bentonville and Springdale.

Is there a nurse on site?

Our registered nurse is here weekdays and on call nights and weekends. Caregivers and certified medication assistants are awake and on site every hour of every day.

Can couples live together?

Yes. One- and two-bedroom apartments work well for couples, including when only one spouse needs care.

Are pets allowed?

Cats and dogs under 30 pounds are welcome with a deposit. There's a dog run by the trail.

Can grandchildren visit any time?

Any time, and they're welcome to use the studio with a grown-up. Saturdays are especially busy.

Can residents use the greenway on their own?

Yes, if they're steady enough. The paved spur starts at our studio door. Our walking club goes every morning with staff.

What if care needs increase?

We reassess every six months and whenever something changes. If someone eventually needs memory care or skilled nursing, we help the family plan the next step.

Can I bring my own furniture?

Please do. We send a floor plan with measurements, and maintenance will mount the TV and hang pictures the day you arrive.

Is there an entrance fee?

No. There's a one-time community fee at move-in and then monthly rent and care, month to month.

Can I try it first?

Yes. Trial stays of one to two weeks in a furnished apartment are a good way to see if it fits.

Bring the grandkids to the tour.

They'll find the studio and the cookie jar. You'll find the answers to your questions. Call or text Renata to set a time.
