Good to know
Questions, plainly answered
What is an adult day program?
A daytime place for older adults who live at home but shouldn't spend the day alone. Members get care, a hot dinner and company, and go home every afternoon.
Who is a good fit?
Adults living with memory loss, recovering from a stroke or fall, managing diabetes, or isolated out in the county. Opal visits your home before the first day.
How do families pay?
Privately by the day, or with VA benefits, long-term care insurance or Arkansas Medicaid programs for those who qualify. Medicare generally does not cover adult day.
Is a nurse there all day?
Yes, every hour we're open.
How far does the van go?
Anywhere in Stone County, including the hollows. Ask about Fifty-Six, Timbo and Onia.
Can families come to the Thursday jam?
Please do. One to three every Thursday. Bring an instrument if you play.
Does my dad have to garden?
No. Some members never touch a seed tray. They play checkers, whittle, quilt or just sit on the porch.
What about members with dementia?
They spend part of the day on the sun porch with staff trained in dementia care, and join everyone for dinner and music.
How many days can Mom come?
Two to five. Most families start with two.
Is the old farmhouse accessible?
Yes. We added a ramp, widened doors and built an accessible bath room.
What if something happens during the day?
Our nurse checks right away and calls you. In an emergency we call 911 first.
Do you close for weather?
We follow the Mountain View schools and call every family by 6:30 a.m.
Can Mom get a bath here?
Yes, with a trained aide in our bath room.
What should Dad bring?
A list of medicines, noon doses in the pharmacy bottle, a sweater and his glasses.
Do you offer Saturday respite?
One Saturday a month, nine to three.
Do you help families after a loss?
Yes. Our chaplain visits and our caregiver group stays open to you.
Can we drop in?
Any time we're open.
Can we try a day?
Yes. Your first visit day is our treat.

Thursday at one. Bring your banjo.
Come for the jam, or bring your mother or dad for a visit day, our treat. Call or text Opal.
