Good to know

Questions, answered

What does the monthly rate include?

Your apartment, three meals a day and afternoon tea, utilities and Wi-Fi, weekly housekeeping and linens, laundry, transportation, activities and caregivers around the clock. Personal care is priced by level after a free nursing assessment and listed in writing before you decide.

How is the care level set?

Our nurse visits you at home or in the hospital, reviews your medications and doctor's notes, and talks with you and your family. The care plan sets what help you receive and what it costs, and we review it every 90 days or sooner if needs change.

What is The Arbor?

The Arbor is the memory care neighborhood inside each of our homes: twelve to sixteen suites around a secured garden courtyard, with caregivers trained in dementia care and a calmer, more structured day.

How do you know when memory care is the right choice?

Often it is when someone is getting lost, leaving the stove on, or becoming anxious in a larger setting. Our nurse and social worker will assess honestly and talk it through with you. Many couples live in assisted living and memory care in the same home.

Is there a nurse on site?

A licensed nurse is on site in each home on weekdays and on call every night and weekend. Caregivers and medication aides are awake and in the building twenty-four hours a day.

Does Medicare pay for assisted living?

No. Medicare does not pay for rent, meals or personal care in assisted living or memory care. It still covers doctor visits, therapy, lab work and prescriptions through your Part B, Part D or Advantage plan.

Does Oklahoma Medicaid help pay?

Oklahoma's ADvantage waiver can help pay for assisted living services in participating communities for people who qualify medically and financially. Room and board are generally still the resident's share. Our business office will tell you whether a waiver spot is available at a particular home.

Can veterans get help paying?

Many wartime veterans and surviving spouses qualify for the VA Aid and Attendance pension, which can help pay for assisted living or memory care. Emmanuel in our business office helps families with the application.

Do you accept long-term care insurance?

Yes. Most policies cover assisted living and memory care once benefit triggers are met. We complete the monthly paperwork insurers request.

Can we bring our own furniture?

Please do. We send a floor plan ahead of time, and our maintenance team hangs pictures and sets up the TV before move-in day.

Can my spouse and I live together if only one of us needs care?

Yes. Couples share an apartment with care priced for the spouse who needs it, or live in assisted living and memory care in the same home.

Are pets welcome?

Cats and small dogs are welcome in most assisted living apartments with a pet deposit, as long as the resident can care for them. Our homes also have resident cats who choose their own laps.

Which home is right for us?

All three offer the same care and the same rates. Broken Arrow is the largest, Owasso is closest to the north side of Tulsa, and Bixby has the biggest garden. Most families choose by which one is closest to the people who will visit most.

Do you offer respite stays?

Yes, in a furnished apartment for a week or longer when one is open. Respite is a good way to try us out and give a family caregiver a rest.

What happens if care needs increase beyond assisted living?

Many changes are handled by updating the care plan or moving to The Arbor. If someone needs round-the-clock skilled nursing, we help the family plan the next step and stay in touch.

Can families join for meals?

Yes. Guest meals are a small charge, and the family dining room can be reserved for celebrations.

How do families stay informed?

You will have the nurse's direct line, care conferences every 90 days, a call whenever something changes, and a monthly letter with photographs from your home.

How do I schedule a tour?

Call or text, or use the visit button. Tours run Monday through Saturday, Sundays by appointment, and end with tea or lunch.

How do I raise a concern?

Speak with any staff member or ask for the executive director. Every concern is written down and answered. You may also contact the Oklahoma long-term care ombudsman at any time.

Come sit in the garden with us.

Call or text Marisol's team to arrange a tour at any of our three homes. Tea is at three.
