Good to know

Questions, answered

What kind of home is Chestnut Street?

Texas licenses us as a small assisted living facility. We help with daily living, like bathing, dressing, meals and medications, with staff awake around the clock. We are not a nursing home and do not provide round-the-clock skilled nursing.

How do families pay?

Most residents pay privately or with long-term care insurance. Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA Aid and Attendance. Some Texans qualify for help through Medicaid waiver programs. Our office will walk you through what may apply.

Can residents bring pets?

A calm cat or small dog can often come along, as long as they get along with Biscuit. We will talk through care and vet records before move-in.

Do you care for people who use oxygen?

Yes. Ray is a respiratory therapist, and our caregivers are trained in oxygen safety and equipment.

Is it really that loud on Fridays?

It is lively for about two hours. Residents who prefer quiet have a reading room at the other end of the house, and their doors close.

What happens if care needs grow?

Many needs can be met here with home health or hospice visiting. If someone needs more care than we can safely give, we help the family plan the next step.

Come on Friday. Bring your dancing shoes.

Tours are any day, but Friday afternoons show you the real Chestnut Street. Call or text Celia.
