Straight answers
Will Medicare cover my stay?
Original Medicare Part A can cover skilled nursing and rehab after a qualifying inpatient hospital stay of at least three days, up to 100 days per benefit period. Days 1 to 20 are fully covered; days 21 to 100 have a daily coinsurance. Medicare Advantage plans have their own rules and usually require prior approval, which we request for you.
How fast can you take a patient?
We review hospital referrals seven days a week and can often accept a patient the same day.
How long will rehab take?
It depends on the reason for the stay and how the patient progresses. Many joint replacement patients go home in two to three weeks. We update families every week.
Do you accept Texas Medicaid?
Yes, for long-term care. Texas Medicaid covers nursing facility care for residents who qualify medically and financially. Our business office helps with the application.
Do you help veterans?
Yes. Our social services director helps veterans and surviving spouses check VA benefits. Coverage depends on each veteran's eligibility.
Is there therapy on weekends?
Therapy runs six days a week, Monday through Saturday.
Can I see the gym before surgery?
Yes. Book a pre-surgery visit and Kyle or one of his therapists will walk you through it.
What should I pack?
Clothes you can exercise in, shoes with backs, glasses, hearing aids, a phone charger and your medication list. We do the laundry.
Can my own doctor keep seeing me?
If your physician visits nursing facilities, yes. Otherwise our medical director and nurse practitioner care for you and send updates to your doctor.
Do you take patients on oxygen or BiPAP?
Yes. Our respiratory therapist manages oxygen, CPAP, BiPAP and tracheostomy care. Ventilator care is not offered here.
What about dialysis?
We arrange transportation to outpatient dialysis and follow renal diets and fluid limits here.
When can families visit?
Any time, day or night.
Who do I call with a concern?
The charge nurse on the hall first, then the Director of Nursing. The administrator's cell number is posted in the lobby.
