Garden cottages and lakeview apartments, with assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing among the roses, on a bluff above Greers Ferry Lake.
Welcome to Rosewood
Rosewood Hall began with a rose garden. In 1987 a retired florist named Ada Pennington gave the town ten acres on the bluff and three hundred bushes on one condition: that whoever built here would keep them blooming. We have. Residents tend them now, and every June the whole town comes for the Rose Walk.
Around the garden are cottages, lakeview apartments, assisted living, memory care and a skilled nursing center, so couples can stay together, or close, through every season. Forty-one couples have married or renewed their vows under our arbor. We keep the photos in the parlor.

We married at twenty in Batesville and renewed our vows at eighty under the Rosewood arbor. Same two people. Better roses.
When Mother moved to the Rose Cottage, Dad walked over every morning with a single rose from the garden. The staff kept them in a vase by her bed.
I was a florist for forty years. Here I get to grow the flowers instead of selling them. It's the best job I've ever had.
My rehab after my hip was in the Health Center. My wife brought lunch every day and we ate it in the garden.
They found us a couples' suite when Ray needed help and I didn't. We never spent a night apart.
The nurses call after every care meeting. We're in Memphis and we've never once felt far away.
Afternoon tea at three, every day. I didn't think I'd care. Now I plan my day around it.
Mama's last weeks were in the Health Center, with the window open to the roses. It was peaceful, and the staff treated her like their own.
