Free coffee, loud bingo and zero gutters to clean.

Apartments and cottages for people over 62 who still have plans, ten minutes from the Rose District and a short drive from the grandkids.

Residents in party hats waving and laughing under balloons and bunting at a clubhouse birthday party

Hi, neighbor

A whole lot of company. And a door that locks.

Sunnyside Commons opened in 2012 on a former sod farm south of Kenosha. We built ninety-six apartments and twenty-four cottages around a big lawn, a saltwater pool and a clubhouse that is almost never quiet.

Our residents are retired teachers, oilfield engineers, church secretaries and one former rodeo clown who still does card tricks. They have their own front doors, their own cars and their own schedules. We handle the cooking, the cleaning, the repairs and the party planning, and somebody always notices if you skip coffee two days in a row.

Neighbors talking

Mom moved here grumbling that she was 'not a joiner.' She is now treasurer of the bingo league and has a laminated rulebook.

I used to drive across town for pickleball. Now I walk out the back door, play two games and I'm home before the coffee's cold.
Ed V.Resident since 2020
Dad stopped going to the café for two days and the front desk called me before I even knew he had a cold. That phone call sold me.
Jerome W.Son of a resident
We sold a four-bedroom house in Jenks and a riding mower. We do not miss the house. We definitely do not miss the mower.
Phil and Donna R.Residents since 2019
The pottery studio is the best-kept secret in Broken Arrow. I've made sixty-three bowls. My kids have asked me to stop.
Margaret H.Resident since 2016
Carla came to the house three times before the move. By the time we got here, Mom's pictures were on the walls and her bed was made.
Angela T.Daughter of a resident
After my husband passed I didn't leave the house for a month. Here, somebody knocks on my door every morning to walk to coffee. I'm grateful every day.
Rosalind M.Resident since 2021
No buy-in meant we could try it for a year. That was four years ago.
Hank and Lorraine S.Residents since 2022
My grandkids think Grandpa lives at a resort. Honestly, with the pool and the ice cream social, they're not far off.
Bill C.Resident since 2018

Our story

From sod farm to front porches

The Pruett family had grown Bermuda grass on these forty acres since 1971. When they sold, they asked for one thing: keep the big pecan by the road. It's still there, and it's where the bus stop is.
