How the house came to be

Chapter 01

A mother in Southlake

In 2014 Catherine Wren's mother needed help at home. Catherine toured eleven communities and found good care in large buildings, and fine buildings with thin care. She wanted both in a house small enough to know everyone.

Two acres of oaks

She found a wooded lot off Pleasant Run Road where an old farmhouse had stood. The architects kept every oak that could be kept and drew the house around them.

Chapter 03

Thirty-two, on purpose

The bankers asked for a hundred units. Catherine held at thirty-two suites and one dining room, because that is how many people a caregiver team can truly know.

Opening night

The house opened in the spring of 2018. Catherine's mother lived in the Garden suite until 2022 and never missed afternoon tea.
