Welcome to the Ridge

Built from the same stone as the mountains.

Every wall of our Commons is faced in red granite cobbles, the same rounded stone you see in the old buildings at Medicine Park. The founders hauled it from a quarry west of here in 2002, one truckload at a time, because they wanted the place to look like it belonged to this country and not to a catalog.

Twenty-three years later it still feels that way. A good share of our residents came to Lawton with the Army and stayed. Others taught school, ran farms out past Cache or nursed at the hospital downtown. They move here for an easier house and a full calendar, and they stay because assisted living is right down the hall if they ever need it.

Our story

Twenty-three years at the foot of the mountains

In 2002 three Lawton families, two of them Army, bought forty acres of pasture on the road to the mountains. They wanted a place their own parents could grow old in without leaving the county, and they built the Commons from red granite cobbles hauled in from the west.

Sample family reviews

What residents and families tell us

Dad retired from Fort Sill as a sergeant major and he runs the woodshop like one. He has built birdhouses for half the cottages, and the staff let him.
Michelle T.Daughter of a resident
We came for independent living in 2017. When my wife needed help after her stroke, she moved down the hall to assisted living and I still eat supper with her every night.
Ray O.Resident since 2017
Danielle sat at my kitchen table for an hour before Mom moved in. She asked about the hymns Mom likes and how she takes her coffee. Both were right on day one.
Patricia L.Daughter of a resident
I live in Stuttgart. Hannah walked me through Mother's apartment on a video call while the movers were still there. I cried, and then I slept for the first time in a month.
Gerald V.Son of a resident
The tai chi teacher is half my age and twice as patient. I can stand on one foot again, which I have not been able to say since the Carter administration.
Lois H.Resident since 2021
Mom stayed six weeks for respite after her hip surgery and asked to come back for good. That was all the review I needed.
Daniel R.Son of a resident
Carol Ann called me at two in the morning to say Dad had a fever and the on-call doctor had been reached. She called again at six to say it had broken. That is the whole reason we chose this place.
Sherri K.Daughter of a resident
Good food, a pool that is actually warm, and a view of Mount Scott from my bed. I tell my friends in town they are doing it wrong.
Betty J.Resident since 2019
They took Dad and three other veterans to the refuge to see the buffalo on Veterans Day. He talked about it until Christmas.
Andrea M.Granddaughter of a resident
The paperwork for Aid and Attendance had me stuck for months. The business office sat with me twice and it was approved in the spring.
